Daniele Sartini, the 29-year-old who killed Albanian Denaldo Maxhallaku in Longiano, Italy, has fully confessed to investigators. He has described the details of the murder of the 31-year-old painter from Gatteo, whose body was found two days ago in a well in the Cesena area.
“Daniele Sartini has given a full confession, which clarifies every aspect of the event. We now await the first decision of the preliminary investigation judge and the further development of the case. He hid the body so that it would not be found and tried to destroy any evidence that could link him to the disappearance of this person,” says the prosecutor.
Sartini has admitted to the crime and is currently in Forlì prison, where he was arrested by police. He is accused of murder and concealment of the body.
The young man surrendered after a long interrogation session. “It was me,” he admitted. “I was afraid for myself and my family, I felt threatened,” he is said to have said in the interrogation transcript.
The October 7th Murder: Drug Debt, Conflict, and Gunfire
The crime occurred on October 7, 21 days before the body was discovered.
Sartini, a drug user, owed the victim 1,500 euros in drug debt. That evening, the two had arranged to meet to discuss the drug debt in front of Sartini’s apartment in Longiano.
The victim was persistently demanding his money. The 29-year-old, who was alone at home at the time (he lived with his father), after an argument, entered the house and took the pistol, a 40-caliber Glock.
He shot Majhallak three times in the chest, who died on the spot.
Then, it is said that he placed the body in the car and hid it in a well, a type of concrete pit that serves to drain water, near the fields.
After that, he set fire to the painter’s car, in order to cover his tracks.
An autopsy will be performed in the coming days.
Investigations: the decisive turning point came from phone records
Investigations made it possible to identify Sartini, after analyzing call records and determining that the 29-year-old was the last person to have had contact with the victim.
Maxhallak’s wife had also filed a missing person report. The 29-year-old from Longiano had his pistol and clothing seized.
