Following the tensions recorded during today’s plenary session, where the Democratic leader called for violence against the Socialists and his deputies turned the Assembly hall into a real chaos, the Socialist Party demands the exclusion of Sali Berisha from the proceedings of the Assembly for 10 days.
“During the blockade of the Assembly rostrum, the floor was given to MP Sali Berisha for a procedure. During his speech, keeping the rostrum blocked and outside the provisions of Article 49 of the Assembly Rules of Procedure, MP Sali Berisha used unparliamentary vocabulary, called for acts of violence, used language that incites hatred, these are serious violations provided for in Article 6 of the Code of Conduct of MPs and provided for in Articles 64 and 65 of the Assembly Rules of Procedure. Following these serious actions committed by MP Sali Berisha, who was also supported by other MPs who are members of the opposition parliamentary groups,” the SP request states.
The Socialists also demand the expulsion for 60 days of 6 other opposition MPs, Bledion Nallbati, Ivi Kaso, Blendi Himçi, Xhelal Mziu, Albana Vokshi and Klodiana Çapja, who threw hard objects at the Speaker of Parliament and members of the Council of Ministers.
“At the moment the voting on the agenda items began, MPs Blendi Himçi, Ivi Kaso, Bledion Nallbati, Xhelal Mziu used pyrotechnic substances or devices, while MP Blendi Himçi and MPs Albana Vokshi and Klodiana Çapja also threw hard objects at the Speaker of the Session and members of the Council of Ministers, these are serious violations provided for in Article 65/1 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.
The behavior of these MPs constitutes a serious violation of the norms of parliamentary ethics and discipline, violating the authority of the Assembly and the conditions for the regular exercise of parliamentary activity.
“The actions of the aforementioned deputies were accompanied by the blocking of the Assembly rostrum, tensions and continuous noise with inflatable devices by other opposition deputies, preventing the orderly development of the voting procedure. Also, the unparliamentary and inciting language by deputy Sali Berisha is a serious violation,” the request states.
